So you’re really nervous about Thanksgiving because you know you’re going to be walking into all sorts of drama! One Bert Show listener is about to ruin her mother-in-law’s Thanksgiving! Instead of turkey, she’s serving FROZEN PIZZAS! She’ll tell you why…
Here’s what she sent us:
Hi Bert Show,
I am about to ruin my mother-in-law‘s Thanksgiving. She’s going to be furious, and I’m doing it with the full
blessing of my husband. My husband and I have been married for seven years. For our entire marriage until last year, my mother-in-law has hosted Thanksgiving dinner. Every year she seems to complain about the work, and every year I have offered to host Thanksgiving at our house. It was almost as if she had doubted my ability. Or she’s one of those types of women who likes to seem like a martyr even when other people have offered to help. Well, last year she had surgery a few weeks before Thanksgiving. There was no way that she could host. So she finally let me do this. It was miserable. She questioned me and criticized me the entire week leading up to Thanksgiving. The day of, every single thing she saw me do or everything she tasted was met with disapproval. I felt so defeated.
This year, she was planning to take Thanksgiving duties back, but then her kitchen renovations got delayed. She reluctantly asked if I would do it again. Then, my sister in law told me that my mother-in-law was gossiping about my lack of kitchen skills and that she’s sorry to disappoint everyone that Thanksgiving will be at my house again. I was furious, obviously. I haven’t called her on it. However, I agreed to host dinner on Thanksgiving. However, I DID NOT agree to make a turkey. Lol! It may be implied, but it’s not happening. My in-laws will be coming over for frozen pizzas! Then, I’ll make the traditional meal on Friday for just me and my husband.
