If you need a fun, easy project to do while social distancing and under lock down, but you want it to have a positive impact, we’ve got just the thing for you.
KIDS CARE is a nonprofit that was started by 9-year-old Jaida Burke and her mom, Amie, and its goal is to create, support & implement children and youths’ community service projects.
Right now, they are collecting “Kindness Cards” for first responders. You can either make your own handwritten card or send them a message you’d like written in a card. Read on for the details on where to drop off or how to email a message!
Why Take Time To Care?
There’s a lot of hard and challenging situations & news to digest right now. Raising the vibrations of ourselves and others is really important work. To share focus on Kindness and Caring in a simple and effective way is something we know how to do. So we decided to take action with what we had and within the limitations of what is happening in and around our community and the entire world. After speaking with Mrs. Cheryl Gildersleeve, a Customer Service Representative at Wellstar Kennestone in Marietta, we were assured that collecting and bringing cards to them was not an increased risk or concern. Hearing from her that there was a high need for encouragement of the staff as they were working long hours in tough circumstances — we launched our Kindness Cards Mission on March 25, 2020.
We are asking families, friends, scouts, churches, youth groups & neighbors to help us create Kindness Cards for our local community. Cards, letters, coloring’s & posters are wanted to encourage & show Gratitude to our Brave First Responders for protecting & healing our local community. All ages are encouraged to participate in this easy & safe way to volunteer from your home.
Take time to make a difference in the day of someone who is caring for our community during this difficult time. Sidenote: As we prepared to make our first delivery, Jaida had a “realization.”
“Not only are 39 people who get the cards gonna feel good, but 39 people who made the cards are gonna feel good too Mama!”
Be a part of this!
They are currently being collected specifically for Cobb County in Georgia – if there are any volunteers from additional counties who would like to coordinate a mission in their county email: firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
