Yesterday, was World Pancreatic Cancer Day, and even though Alex Trebek didn’t live to see it, another man who suffers from pancreatic cancer does have a better prognosis, thanks to Alex sharing his journey.
A 70-year-old man named Chuck Paulausky from Chandler, Arizona, says that he happened to be watching “Jeopardy!” on the day when Alex talked about some of the warning signs.
He said, “I just listened to what he had to say and was just thinking, I had been having an upper abdomen pain for a week or so, and [I] started looking at the early warning signs that he was outlining.”
He went to the doctor, and tests confirmed that had pancreatic cancer too. He added, “I [have] Stage One…and catching it that early is very unusual.” This week, he went in for what is hopefully his last procedure. (Here’s video.)
New episodes of “Jeopardy” are still airing, and last night, Alex made a comment about it being World Pancreatic Cancer Day.
