The hot new British boy band One Direction, the one Simon Cowell put together on the British X Factor, may be forced to change its name. A California-based pop group claims they’ve been using the name One Direction since 2009, a year before the British boys even knew each other.
The U.S. group has also already staked a claim for the name with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The U.S. band has filed a lawsuit, asking the British boys to change their name, and they want more than $1 million in damages.
