The Wussification Of America Continues With…Halloween And Charlie Brown?! One Dad Defends His Stance On Kicking It To The Curb!

The Bert Show’s talked about the Wussification of America a lot – from teachers not being allowed to use red ink and teams not keeping score so no one feels bad – is America getting overly PC?

Up on the wussification chopping block now is the cartoon classic, Charlie Brown. Some say there’s too much bullying in the Halloween classic – the characters are SO mean to Charlie Brown that it’s actually upsetting children who watch it!

One dad, Buzz Bishop, who wrote “It’s Time To Retire Charlie Brown,” thinks it’s time for the Peanut gang to get the boot.

HLN reports:

Bishop argues that apart from a sense of nostalgia for parents, the Charlie Brown specials have nothing of value to offer today’s kids. He finds the shows’ acceptance of schoolyard teasing to be antiquated. And, as the father of young kids, he finds the constant use of words like “stupid” “dumb” and “blockhead” to be a bad message for those little ears. “Charlie Brown is always an outsider, the cool kids continue to play tricks, and nobody is ever held to account. In an era of hashtags like #RIPAmandaTodd, these types of attitudes are no longer appropriate,” Bishop wrote.

So, is it time to retire Charlie Brown & co., or should we chalk this up to the Wussification of America?

Buzz joins the show to defend his side of things…and to his credit, scores a few solid points. Change your mind?
