The Triangle Of Death: How Simple Facial Grooming Habits Could Affect Your Brain

The Triangle of Death: yep, none of us (exception: Bert) had heard of it, either…but apparently it’s something that everyone should be aware of. In the area that spans from in between your eyes down to the left and right of your nose (a triangle – kind of like the opposite of the t-zone), the blood flow leads to your brain, which also means any bacteria in the stream can go straight to your brain.

In short: if you pick at your face with dirty fingers, or if an open wound in that area gets infected, that bacteria can travel through your blood stream directly to your brain. Creepy.

We’re not making this up, either. From Dr. Oz’s website:

“If you have a habit of picking more winners from your nose then the stock market, you may want to heed to this advice. Any time you tweeze out a nose or lip hair, pierce the face, or pop a pimple, bacteria collects in the wound and can invade the triangle of death’s blood supply. Similarly, facial wounds, surgical incisions and gums can become an avenue of infection. The best mode of prevention is to be a non-picker.”
