The Avengers actually made more than people thought it did over the weekend. Initial estimates had its three-day total at $200 million, which was already enough to (Hulk) SMASH the previous record, but the official numbers were released yesterday. The movie’s opening take was actually $207.4 million.

The previous record was set last year by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, which made $168.2 million in its first weekend. Deathly Hallows still holds the record for best one-day haul, though.

The Avengers made $80.5 million on Friday, which trailed the Deathly Hallows one-day total by about $10 million.
