Soulja Boy was arrested for marijuana possession early Tuesday morning during a routine traffic stop in Temple, Georgia. He was with four other men at the time – three bodyguards and a driver. According to reports, the vehicle was pulled over because a light was out, and the cops searched it after smelling a strong odor of marijuana. That’s when they discovered a “substantial amount” of pot, guns, cash, and a puppy. Some of the weed and one of the guns were supposedly found in a suitcase, which belonged to Soulja Boy. All five men were hit with three felony charges: possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
TMZ claims there was roughly $70,000 worth of cash and drugs in the car but the authorities have disputed that, although they wouldn’t reveal the exact amount. No one is saying how many guns were in the car and there’s no word whether they were properly registered to any of the men. The puppy was not charged as an accomplice and was released to a family member. Coincidentally, a Soulja Boy documentary called “Soulja Boy: The Movie” hit stores yesterday hours after the arrest. That’s unfortunate timing for Soulja Boy, or fortunate timing because Soulja Boy had a ton of interviews set up for yesterday to promote the DVD. He didn’t make any of those though, because he was cooling his heels in jail. His bond was set at $10,000, and he posted it. Last night, he was Tweeting like a madman, but he didn’t really say anything about the arrest. He was just promoting the movie.
