Social Media PSA: Facebook Changed Your Email Address…And Didn’t Tell You

Facebook changed the email address for all of its users, without sending out a formal notice after the change.

Every user has always had a Facebook email address linked to their account. But on Monday Facebook switched the email addresses used by all of the site’s hundreds of millions of users from the ones they normally use to @facebook addresses.

The change is only on the Facebook.com site, where friends who don’t have your address handy can quickly find it and email you.

But don’t worry – it’s an easy fix: On your timeline, click “Update Info” under your cover photo. Select “edit” under your “Contact Info” section.  Use the circle symbols to the right to alter your preferances – use a full circle for what you want to be seen on your profile, and a circle with a line through it for those you don’t. So, for your Facebook email account, switch it from the full circle to the crossed out circle and that will hide it from your timeline.
