Should You Be Allowed To Spank A Child That’s Not Your Own?

A Georgia man was arrested for spanking a child that wasn’t his while at a veterinarian’s office. A 4-year-old child was sticking his fingers into the cage of a sick cat, and wouldn’t listen to the owner, who warned the child several times to leave the cat alone.

The child’s mother did nothing, and the next time the kid poked at the cat, the owner swatted the boy on the butt…and mom called the police. The man was arrested, and had to cough up $1000 for bail!

This begets the question (and we can see this turning into a “you don’t have kids so you don’t understand!” debate): If a child is acting up, possibly endangering themselves and another animal /property and the parents aren’t doing anything about it, can you spank them?

The general consensus is H to the No.
