Tony Scott committed suicide by jumping off a Los Angeles bridge over the weekend, and reports said he was suffering from inoperable brain cancer.
Scott left several notes for his family and friends.
An autopsy was performed, but the official cause of death won’t be released until the results of toxicology tests come in. The L.A. County Chief Coroner did say that he couldn’t confirm the cancer diagnosis.
Scott’s wife, Donna Wilson, said that reports of her husband having terminal cancer are “absolutely false” and that he didn’t have medical issues that would have prompted him to take his own life.
ABC News was behind the cancer report, but they backed off the story. If the cancer story isn’t true, this will be the third time in a month that they’ve made a reporting error in a sensitive news story.
