Reese Witherspoon’s mom is suing her husband for bigamy, claiming they are still married and that he may not even remember marrying a second woman in January. Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Witherspoon has been married to John Draper Witherspoon for 42 years, but says they began living separately in 1996 due to his issues with alcohol, hoarding, and spending too much. They never divorced, and Betty says she still loves John and does not want to divorce.
Betty says early-onset dementia may have caused John to not remember marrying another woman, Tricianne Taylor. She says when she confronted her husband, he said he didn’t know who Tricianne Taylor was and that he did not remember getting married. She also claims the other woman never responded when Betty informed her John was already married.
She’s worried that the other woman will cause financial troubles in the family. She wants the marriage to be annulled.
