Nicolas Cage was arrested for being drunk (hello, Celebrity Incarceration Draft!) and grabbing his wife’s arm in New Orleans on Saturday night. A taxi cab driver called cops after the actor got into a fight with his wife over the property they are renting in the city. Cage had the wrong place, grabbed his wife by the arm and pulled her over to the property.
He then started hitting cars, yelling/screaming as he tried to get into the taxi. Sources say he was drunk. Cage allegedly told cops, “Why don’t you just arrest me?” The cops told him to go home, but Cage then repeated his dare to cops. The actor was arrested for domestic abuse, public drunkenness and disturbing the peace. His wife says the taxi driver’s story is wrong– there was no physical contact and she doesn’t even have marks on her. Cage was released Sunday morning after reality star and bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman bailed him out.
A statement from Duane “Dog” Chapman reads, “Media from around the world have been requesting interviews with me today after reports surfaced about my posting a bond for actor Nicolas Cage in New Orleans. I am a truly dedicated fan of Mr. Cage and will not be granting any interviews about my client as I wish to respect his privacy. “I performed my duties as a bail bondsman and not in connection with our show. This is what I do for a living. There are two sides of my job: I release my clients after they have been arrested; and pick them up if they don’t show up in court. I do not believe the latter will be the case for Mr. Cage.”
TMZ posted surveillance video taken inside a tattoo shop just before Nic Cage was arrested. He can be seen arguing with his wife and others. Take a look at the video here.
