Mel Gibson avoided jail for assaulting former girlfriend and baby mama Oksana Grigorieva. The actor appeared in Los Angeles court on Friday and pled no contest for one misdemeanor count of spousal battery. He was sentenced to 36 months of informal probation, one year of counseling and 16 hours of community service. Grigorieva was happy with the ruling because she never wanted to see him in jail but wanted him to get help. Oksana Grigorieva plans on suing Mel Gibson for assaulting her, now that the criminal case against him is over.
But sources say if she sues him in civil court the actor will file his own lawsuit against her for extortion and he won’t settle the case. Sources say she plans to file a lawsuit against Mel, alleging battery, emotional distress and defamation.
