After an intense opening ceremony at the Olympics, a guy from France was inspired to try and swim to America without any training or equipment. He had apparently gone out of his mind, but his friends let him go because they thought he was kidding.
Lifeguards saw the guy swim out to sea, and he made it out so far that they couldn’t see him anymore. They called in a helicopter.
Even though he insisted that he was up to the challenge, he was rescued by coastguards. A diver dropped into the water and convinced the guy that it probably wasn’t a good idea to try and swim to New York… which is 3,594 miles away.
Lifeguards threw him a line and towed him back to the beach.
