We’ve got a potential Seaver family throwdown in the making. Tracey Gold does not share Kirk Cameron’s views on homosexuality or gay rights. As you probably recall, Kirk expressed his views on CNN Friday night calling homosexuality unnatural, detrimental and destructive. He also said he’s not in favor of gay marriage, nor would he be supportive if one of his kids came out.
Tracey took to her Twitter page to give the dissenting view. She said, “I am a strong supporter of the #LGBT Community, and I believe in equal rights for all. #NOH8 #LOVE.” She even changed her Twitter icon to a picture of herself with duct tape over her mouth and the slogan NOH8 written on her cheek.
Alan Thicke, who played Kirk and Tracey’s dad, doesn’t agree with Kirk, either. He Tweeted, “I’m getting him some new books. The Old Testament simply can’t be expected to explain everything.”
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays the gay character Mitchell on “Modern Family” and is gay in real life, had a pretty awesome response to Kirk’s views. He Tweeted, “The only unnatural thing about me being gay is that I had a crush on Kirk Cameron until about 24 hours ago.”
Kirk isn’t backing down. His rep issued a statement yesterday saying, quote, “Cameron is thankful for the thousands of emails and comments that he’s received from those who value the freedom to express one’s beliefs.”
