Jennifer Lopez has spent most of her music career at Sony Music Epic Records so it’s pretty shocking that the label has dropped her! The rumor going around is that Jennifer’s contract had ended and that she had fulfilled it with her last two singles. J-Lo also decided not to record another album with the label. Others rumors say that Sony just straight dropped her! There’s also drama over how finished her upcoming album was before it was canceled. Her 7th album, “Love?”, was supposed to come out in April and featured production from Danja, Darkchild and The Neptunes, among others. But the official lead single, “Louboutins”, didn’t do so well on the charts and neither did her performance at the American Music Awards. Even with the breakup, Sony will still be releasing Jennifer’s “Greatest Hits” album in the fall. Jennifer’s manager released a statement saying: “Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music group and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction her career as an actress and recording artist.
She is grateful and appreciative to everyone Sony for all that they accomplished together.” As for what’s next for Jennifer, she is already in talks with Island Def Jam. In the meantime, JLo is scheduled as both the musical guest and the host of Saturday Night Live this weekend.
