The passenger who was killed in “Jackass” star Ryan Dunn’s fatal crash was Zachary Hartwell… a Iraq war vet and a production assistant on the “Jackass 2″ movie. The 30-year-old Hartwell was a former Navy Gunner’s Mate who had been on two tours of Iraq. Sources say the two friends had been out celebrating clinching a new deal together before Dunn’s Porsche crashed while he was giving Hartwell a ride home.
Bam Margera spoke with a FOX affiliate about the loss of his best friend, “Jackass” co-star Ryan Dunn. Bam broke down on camera, saying: “I’ve never lost anybody that I care about, he’s my best friend.” The coroner’s report is out and it says Dunn and Hartwell died from the impact and resulting fire of the crash early Monday morning. Police have done an accident reconstruction and say Dunn’s Porsche might have been traveling as fast as 130 miles per hour when it jumped a guardrail, flew into a ravine, and burst into flames. Margera visited the crash site and said: “He was the happiest person, the smartest guy with so much talent.” Margera said on Sunday night he started to rip out parts of a van for no apparent reason. It turned out that incident happened at the same time Dunn died in a crash. Margera tearfully told the reporter: “It’s not right. It was the worst phone call I got in my life.”
