Lady Gaga responded to the protests against her and her concerts in Indonesia. She Tweeted that she has been asked by authorities to censor her show and has gotten threats of violence from Islamic hardliners if the show went on as planned.
Gaga’s June 3rd concert in Jakarta had been canceled after Indonesian national police refused to issue a permit, but Gaga’s tour promoters are negotiating with government officials and police for the concert to happen.
Gaga Tweeted, ”The Jakarta situation is 2-fold: Indonesian authorities demand I censor the show & religious extremist separately, are threatening violence. If the show does go on as scheduled, I will perform the BTWBall alone.”
A militant group has said they will “create havoc” if Gaga’s performance goes ahead as planned. They call her the “devil’s messenger.” The group even bought 150 tickets to the concert and promised to enter the venue and stop the concert. A spokesperson said the group won’t attack the audience because their only target is Gaga and her crew.
