Hurricane Irma Randoms: Please Don’t Shoot Into The Storm

Hurricane Irma Randoms: Please Don’t Shoot Into The Storm

Here’s some random craziness related to Hurricane Irma . . .

There’s a couple in Washington state who’ve been married for 75 years, and their names are: Harvey and Irma Schluter.  He turned 104 in July and she’ll be 93 in November.

Meanwhile, there’s a rumor going around that Hurricane Irma could cause a real-life SHARKNADO.  Fortunately, it’s not true:  sharks can sense the pressure from a storm coming and will get the hell out of its way before it comes.

A storm chaser in the Florida Keys stepped out of his car to measure the power of Hurricane Irma, and got blown backwards by the 117-mile-per-hour winds.  He seems to be using every bit of his strength just to keep standing.

In other Irma news, over the weekend, a Facebook group sprung up encouraging people in Florida to try to get Hurricane Irma to go away…by shooting at it.

The 22-year-old guy who started the group is named Ryon Edwards and he’s from Daytona Beach, Florida.  He says it was just supposed to be a joke, but clearly, not everyone got it, because so far, more than 55,000 people have joined the group.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Department responded on Saturday and asked them NOT to shoot at the hurricane and to evacuate instead.

“You won’t make it turn around and it will have very dangerous side effects.” Bullets fired into the storm going in unpredictable directions at top speeds because of the winds.

So far, there haven’t been any reports of people ACTUALLY shooting the hurricane.  So please don’t.
