Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong is “seeking treatment for substance abuse” after throwing an EPIC tantrum at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Friday night.
According to reports, Green Day’s set was almost cut in half – from about 45 minutes to 25 minutes – after earlier sets by Usher and Rihanna were allowed to go long.
Billie Joe stopped their performance in the middle of the song ”Basket Case” when he noticed that a monitor in the venue was warning them that they only had one minute remaining. This set him off on a profanity-filled tirade.
He yelled, “Give me [an effing] break. One minute [effing] left. You’re gonna give me one [effing] minute? Look at that [effing] sign right there . . . one minute.
“Let me [effing] tell you something . . . I’ve been around since [effing] 198-[effing]-8. And you’re gonna give me one [effing] minute? You’ve gotta be [effing] kidding me! What the [eff]! I’m not [effing] Justin Bieber, you mother[effers] . . .
“I got one minute, one minute left. Oh, now I got nothing left. Let me show you what one [effing] minute [effing] means.” He started smashing his guitar on the ground, and bassist Mike Dirnt followed suit.
Then, Billie Joe flipped the bird and shouted, “One minute. God [effing] love you all. We’ll be back” and stormed off the stage. It’s unclear what he meant by “being back” since the show was clearly over.
