Reality television is being very good to Georgia these days and we here at The Bert Show can’t help but feel some hometown pride. Between American Idol, The Voice, Fashion Star and Dancing With the Stars, Georgia has five of its own climbing the ranks.
Phil Phillips, a native of Leesburg, GA, and Bert affectionately calls “Dave Matthews Lite,” has cruised his way into the Top Six on American Idol.
Over on FOX’s The Voice, Pip from Marietta and Mathai of Atlanta have made their way to the Top 16 with the leadership of Maroon 5 front man, Adam Levine.
Sadly, Atlanta lost Edmond Newton on Fashion Star last week, but Sarah Parrott from Marietta is still holding it down for the Peach State. Earlier this month Parrott was quoted saying, “My expectation going in was trying hard not to be the first sent home.” So far, she’s on a winning streak having retailer H&M pick up her offerings five weeks in a row. And last, but most certainly not least, ABC is hosting a Georgia legend – Ms. Gladys Knight.
The 67-year-old songstress has been moving for America over on Dancing With the Stars. Though her moves have been toned down a bit from those of her younger peers, Knight has beat out three other contestants – so far. Keep watching, but most importantly keep voting!
