Aimee Copeland, the University of West Georgia student who fell victim to a flesh eating bacteria disease (and consequently lost her left leg, right foot and both hands as a result), was greeted by throngs of supporters and well-wishers
Copeland, who has remained surprisingly – and inspirationally – optimistic throughout her entire ordeal, went back to her school, University of West Georgia, for the Celebration Of Life Festival for the first time since her accident…and the turnout was AMAZING.
WSB-TV reports Hundreds turned out for the chance to see Copeland in person. The crowd broke out in cheers Saturday as she took the stage. Copeland thanked them for their support. “This is such a beautiful surprise, to see this many people,” she said.
The Celebration of Life Festival, which included a 63-mile benefit ride, as well as food vendors and live music was held in Copeland’s honor. All the funds raised from the event will go toward Copeland’s medical bills.
