Ryan O’Neal wonders if he and his kids were to blame for Farrah Fawcett’s cancer. In an interview with Piers Morgan on CNN (the other night) to promote his new OWN show with daughter Tatum, Ryan said that what “bothers” him the most today is the “turmoil” his family caused during his relationship with actress Farrah Fawcett, who died of cancer last year.
Ryan said: “I just think, if she had never met us, would she be alive today? “Nobody knows what causes cancer. She didn’t smoke. She didn’t drink. She exercised every day and believed in good health. And then we came along.” He added, “I wasn’t able to straighten out the mess we were in and it sucked her in.”
When questioned by Morgan, who said that was a “harsh” concept, O’Neal admitted, “Maybe it’s not true, but it’s possible.” Ryan added, “Sorry Tatum. But you probably know, too. But it’s not Tatum. I was the catalyst.” Ryan said Tatum “was not supportive” of the relationship. “She was cruel. She wanted it to go down.”
