According to the death certificate, Dick had prostate surgery due to acute urinary retention which was caused by an enlarged prostate. A personal friend of Clark’s, Congressman David Dreier, explained the situation a little more clearly.
He said, “Dick had very minor prostate surgery. All of a sudden, he got a feeling in his arm about 9:30 the nex] morning and he was gone by 11:15. It turned out to be a massive heart attack.”
