50-year-old Zhang Bangshen is a zookeeper in China, and his zoo just witnessed the rare birth of a Francois Leaf Monkey; they’re small, almost-endangered, and they’re rarely ever born in captivity.

The monkey is just three months old, and he doesn’t have teeth. So, when a few weeks ago a patron at the zoo tossed him a PEANUT, and he swallowed it whole…which blocked his digestion system and put his life in danger. So, Zhang stepped in and decided to try to coax the monkey to poop out the peanut by – wait for it – licking the monkey’s anus.  Seriously.  For over an hour.  And here’s the best part:  IT WORKED.

The monkey pushed out the whole peanut.  Zhang says it was the only option, since the monkey is too small and its digestive system is too fragile for laxatives or other medicines.

And no, that picture is NOT what you think, you dirty person, you.
