Britney Spears’ rep is firing back at claims that a supposed audio recording proves that Britney was being beaten by her boyfriend Jason Trawick. The rep says it is “so obviously fake as to be laughable.” The audio was posted by Star Magazine and RadarOnline.com.
The tape comes from Jason Alexander, the guy Britney married in Las Vegas for 55 hours in 2004. He claims they’re still close, and that Britney is reaching out to him with texts, emails and phone calls describing violent beatings. Britney’s reps said: “Suffice it to say, Jason Trawick has never laid a hand on Britney. This is just another example of the irresponsible nature of the tabloid media relying on shoddy sources and false information for the sole purpose of selling magazines, without regard to the truth and without regard to who they hurt in the process. The statements attributed to Jason Alexander are a complete fabrication as Britney has not had any form of communication with Mr. Alexander in years. These irresponsible statements are defamatory and Britney Spears’ legal team will be taking legal action against all of the appropriate parties.” The rep claimed Star mag was told the story was bogus in advance, but they still published it.
