Britney Spears filmed her ”Criminal” video in Britain this month and it’s generating a lot of controversy there. Some local politicians are upset because the video has a shot of Britney holding a gun, and running from a London building.
People in the town of Hackney are upset Britney filmed a video there that shows her robbing a store and showing a gun. It shows her and boyfriend Jason Trawick in a Bonnie and Clyde-type setup, holding shops up while they’re on the run as armed robbers. Hackney thought it was in poor taste. City officials explained they had approved the video shoot, but did not agree that a replica gun could be used on location. The council is taking it up with the production company.
They think it’s insensitive in the wake of the riots that happened in Britain last month and they’ve asked her to apologize, but it doesn’t sound like that will happen.
Last night, Britney’s camp released this statement quote, “The video is a fantasy story, which literally plays out the lyrics of a song written three years before the riots ever happened.”
