Ben Stiller and Colin Kapernick are among those who have helped raise over $1.7 million to feed the hungry in Somalia, where a severe drought has put more than 20 million people at risk of dying due to starvation and diseases.
The plan is to have Turkish Airlines donate one of their planes so that it can be packed with 60 tons of food and sent to Somalia. There’s a group on the ground to help make sure the food gets to those who need it the most.
The fundraiser is on GoFundMe.com, and in a video promoting it, Ben said, “It’s kind of a crazy idea but I think it could work and I think by doing something like this, it could get a lot of media attention, because there’s no media attention on what’s going on there right now and it could start a snowball effect.”
Careful! There’s an F-Bomb near the end of this video.
