This Utah school told their 6th grade students that they can’t say “no” when they’re asked to the Valentine’s Day dance. WHAT?! Is this the Wussification of Valentine’s Day…or something way, way worse?
Should girls and boys be not only allowed to say “no,” but taught that saying “no” is actually an OK thing to do? Aren’t we teaching girls (because let’s face it, normally boys ask the girls to dances, even though that definitely doesn’t HAVE to be the case) to be accommodating and always say yes and never say no to boys, and teaching boys that girls can’t say no?
