Michael J. Fox was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991, when he was just 29. He didn’t understand how he could get it…because, well, he was Michael J. Fox.
He says, “Honestly, my first reaction was, ‘You’ve made a mistake…you’re not aware of who I am.’ I just thought, ‘This is preposterous that this is happening to me.’ I got this diagnosis, and it freaked me out, and I ran from it.”
He ran to ALCOHOL, and it almost destroyed his life.
He says, quote, “I drank to obliterate it, to make it go away. [But the abuse] caused tension in my marriage, which had always been good, and has been amazing since.”
Michael says his wife Tracy Pollan helped set him straight.
He’s 57 now, and he and Tracy have been married for 30 years.
