This past Sunday, a massive car wreck in Florida on I-75 took countless lives, including those of 10 members of a Cobb County church – the Church of Restoration. Travelling from a church conference in Florida were Pastor Jose Carmo; his wife, Adriana Carmo; their 17-year-old daughter Leticia; as well as Jose Carmo’s brother, Edsom Carmo and his brother’s girlfriend, Rose – they all perished in the deadly wreck that began because of poor visibility due to a forest fire. However, the Carmo’s 15-year-old daughter, a Sprayberry High student, Lidiane Carmo, survived but is still critically injured.
The Carmos are originally from Brazil, and now surviving family members had another challenge to face – because the Carmos were undocumented, they worried that Lidiane Carmo will be unable to stay in the United States if she recovers – she would be deported. Later, reports came in that she would not be.
As for funeral arrangements, although family members would like to send the bodies back to their home for burial, they may be unable to because of cost. Anyone wanting to can donate to the Carmo Family Funeral Fund at any Bank of America – simply inquire at any branch.
