Andy Rooney, famous for his essays on “60 Minutes” died in New York City. He had complications after some minor surgery. He was 92.
The chairman of CBS News said: “It’s a sad day at 60 Minutes and for everybody here at CBS News. It’s hard to imagine not having Andy around. He loved his life and he lived it on his own terms. We will miss him very much.”
Rooney had just announced last month that he was retiring from 60 Minutes.
Rooney spent more than 60 years at CBS, with 30 of them behind the camera as a writer and producer.
