Andy Griffith, who played the sheriff of Mayberry on television in the 1960s and the folksy criminal defense attorney Ben Matlock in the 80s, died Tuesday. He was 86.
He died at his coastal home on Roanoke Island, North Carolina, and was buried there five hours later. No cause of death was given.
