Jack’s daughter’s boyfriend asked Jack for permission to marry his daughter, and Jack gave it freely. The guy treats the daughter & the kid well, is stable, has a good job – what’s not to like? Jack’s daughter doesn’t like surprises, so he let the little tidbit about an impending proposal slip so she could be prepared, but Jack’s the one in for a surprise – his daughter doesn’t want the guy to propose! She told dad doesn’t want to marry her boyfriend, but enjoys the comfort of the relationship. Jack feels a little differently, and thinks he’s daughter should marry her boyfriend anyway, even if she’s not in love.
