Ready to move in with your significant other? Before you take the leap (and just know, it’s ok to be a little scared about it – it’s a big step), here are a few questions you should ask, just to make sure you’re making the right decision for you both.
The rundown:
1. Do I Really Want to Be Doing This?
If you’re not sure about the solidarity of your relationship, take a deep breath and think about it, again. This is a big commitment, and while it’s not unbreakable, it’s a lot harder to split up once you have a lease together.
2. Is This Going to Move Us Forward?
Make sure you’re on the same page about your future together. It’s easy to get complacent once you’ve combined your living space; whether or not you want to get married – just make sure you’re both in agreement.
3. Do We Have Fun Together?
Moving in with your significant other isn’t the same as moving in with a detached roommate. Even if you lived with your friends, it’s more than likely you each had your own bedroom that you could retreat to at the end of the day. Not so much anymore. The good news is, you can feel a lot more relaxed around your significant other, but know that every part of the apartment is now shared space.
